What is a Summer Program?
When we talk about summer programs in this article we are referring to educational summer camps; these are similar to a college experience and are usually located on a college campus. That’s not to say that traditional outdoor summer camps located in rural areas don’t provide learning opportunities for students! We are just specifically referring to summer programs located on college campuses that focus on helping students academically or enhance their extracurriculars while preparing the student for college.
Why you should start career exploration in high school
How many people have asked you what you want to be when you grow up? Or, what you want to major in? If your answer has been “I don’t know,” you are not alone! Many students go into college as undecided and take several years to declare their major. Even though this is extremely common, it does have its drawbacks: some students end up having to go to college for an extra semester or two because they didn’t declare a major soon enough. Also, it’s possible that you didn’t choose the college that would be best for your career choice. If you want to get the most out of your college experience high school is a great time to start exploring different options.
So you decided you want to be a doctor. If you are in high school and have already decided you want to become a doctor then you can use your time in high school to prepare for your future career. But knowing you want to enter a competitive and demanding field such as medicine can make your future path seem stressful. You might feel unsure about how to prepare for the academic rigors of college or even feel pressure about getting into the right school.
