The 2014 Day Directors At JKCP

Summertime at JKCP is right around the corner. A lot is running through the heads of students coming to JKCP this summer and same with parents sending their child to JKCP. One thing going through everyone's brain is "who will I meet this summer at JKCP?" We cannont tell you everyone you will specifically be meeting this summer but what we can tell is who your residential directors will be during your time. Now without further ado here is the starting line of the 2014 JKCP Day Directors Team:



Enrichment Day Director: Nina Lafferty(2)_Nina_Marie-1-1.jpg

Nina was born and raised in the Philadelphia area in Havertown.  Nina is very adventurous and loves to travel and learn the native languages of the countries she visits.  She has a BA in History from Saint Joseph’s University and a Masters of Education from Chestnut Hill College. During the winter she teaches at Haverford Middle School.  As a high school student, Nina was one of the first girls to join her high school boys’ ice hockey team.   Needless to say, whether traveling, teaching, or playing sports, Nina is always up for a challenge and she is excited to make this summer at JKCP the best yet! This is her fourth summer at JKCP. 




Xploration Day Director: Brooke McDonald

Born in Fairfax, Virginia and raised in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, Brooke comes from a large family with six brothers and sisters and four dogs!  She graduated from Widener University with a B.A in Education and is currently working towards her Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology.  During the school year, Brooke is a substitute teacher at Haverford Middle School as well as the Pole-vault Coach for Haverford High School Girls’ Track and Field.   In high school, Brooke participated in soccer, swimming and pole-vault before continued her vaulting career in college. She is a huge Philly sports fanatic especially for the Flyers!  This is Brooke’s second summer at JKCP.



Golf Day Director: Danie Steyn

Born in South Africa, Danie started playing golf at the age of 12 and quickly became a successful touring player.  He was the Captain of South Africa’s Free State Provincial Team as an Amateur.  Danie played professionally on the Alp Tour in Europe and was a member of the Pepsi Development Professional Tour.  He was the winner of the Schoeman Park GC Pelco Open and the Runner Up at the De Wets Open and Northern Cape Kimberly Open in South Africa.  As a coach, Danie has his EGTF and Logical Golf Teaching Diploma and worked with Julian Krinsky School of Golf for seven years.  When you meet him, ask him about his 7 Hole In Ones!     




Tennis Day Director: Arvind Aravindhan

Before moving to the United States, Arvind was ranked as the #2 Junior Tennis player in his home country of India. He came to Erskine College in South Carolina on a Tennis Scholarship and was named a Tennis NAIA All-American.  Arvind has been the Tennis Director at Julian Krinsky School of Tennis for 25 years and has coached ITF tennis top world junior players. He has also introduced the Davis Cup and various training levels within JKST.
