Spring Break Trips That Aren’t the Beach

Posted by Natalie Martin on Mar 10, 2017 10:00:00 AM

Spring Break is upon us! With this upcoming vacation time, you may be planning an awesome family trip. Utilize this time to stray away from the usual beach trip and do something new, fun and educational. Wondering how to combine the three elements? It’s quite easy. Here are a few examples! Happy kids travel by the car.jpeg

  1. Washington D.C.

Washington D.C. is the capital of the United States and you’ll never run out of things to do and explore! Monuments and memorials, eclectic neighborhoods, world-famous eateries – Washington, DC is unlike any other major city. You’ll be in America’s front yard while you take advantage of the many world famous free museums. Not into museums? Rent a bike and explore all the monuments and city streets that way! There is so much to see and learn in this city. You’ll be busy from sun up to sun down!

  1. Memphis, TN

Got a love for blues and rock & roll? Take a stroll down Beale Street, grab some barbeque, visit Elvis’ Graceland Estate, and stay in the Peabody Hotel to watch the ducks parade through the lobby each day. Memphis is a beloved southern gem that is packed with music, nightlife, attractions and culture. Craving some more history? Stop by the National Civil Rights Museum and learn about major Civil Rights activists like Martin Luther King Jr.

  1. Austin, TX

Need warmth and sunshine? Austin can do that! Austin is a trendy city that is home to shopping, festivals, and “something for everyone.” Austin gives you the ability to go hiking as well as see the natural Barton Springs and Hamilton pools! If you’re a foodie, Austin is for you! Home to famous Texas BBQ and Gourdough’s Donuts, you will leave with a full belly!

  1. Niagara Falls, New York/Canada

Niagara Falls, situated on the border of Buffalo, New York and Ontario Canada, is a great destination to go with the family. The main attraction is the falls themselves, and there are many ways to see them. Take a boat tour, stand in caves behind the falls, or take a helicopter ride over the falls! Aside from the falls, both the New York and Canadian sides offer activities to keep the family entertained all vacation long. Niagara Falls also offers an aquarium, Skylon Tower, botanical gardens and a butterfly conservatory.

  1. Philadelphia, PA

The City of Brotherly Love always welcomes visitors or residents. If you happen to live close to Philly, fall in love with this city all over again! Do a “staycation” and visit all the major attractions. Some attractions include; the Liberty Bell, the famous Rocky steps at the Art Museum, America’s first zoo, and of course the legendary Philly cheesesteak! If you are attending JKCP this summer, vacationing in Philadelphia gives you the chance to explore before summer!
