We don't want to brag, but it's often hard not to when you see a JKCP student flourish into a success story just like Rebecca Fox Starr.
Becca began as a camper, in sixth grade, at our Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) camp which was located at the Haverford Friends School. It was there that she was fortunate enough to work with a Broadway actress for two weeks. Through those two weeks, Becca performed showcases for the entire camp singing genres of music from Gershwin to Italian. It was when Becca met a guest teacher we brought in from England that she helped to write our first unofficial theme song while also learning many Oasis songs that summer.
In 1999, Becca returned to our drama program at Enrichment which was then at Haverford College. The highlight of that summer was performing a Beatles Showcase. The following year, CAPA was moved to Shipley and Becca became a camp counselor there. In 2003, she continued with us again as a counselor and by 2006, Becca was the Improv teacher and show director. That summer, Becca wrote and directed four showcases while also handling all the audition and audio visuals. As you can see, Becca's role and interest as a professional in the performing arts field has grown over time even as she grew through the JKCP ranks.
This summer, Becca Fox Starr is back! She will be our Performing Arts Director and with her rich history of the JKCP program, she is ready for the summer of 2014! Meet Becca through our blog and videos and stay tuned for more info and a sneak preview of what this summer's Performing Arts program has to offer.
