Imagine a hands-on, interactive summer experience with no boundaries or borders. A place where you get to use your imagination, creativity, knowledge and skills to explore topics you love. After listening to your feedback, we have worked hard to create the new Xploration program at Haverford College, and are extremely excited to be introducing the newest addition to the program, the Collaboration Lab. Here's how it works.
Once you have registered for our program, you will choose two different tracks that interest you, one for the morning and another for the afternoon. We have six different tracks to choose from – Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Movement and Cooking. Within those tracks, you will see three different classes. Within each track, you will be able to spend your week however you would like. Whether that is staying in one class for the entire week or continuously switching daily from class to class within any given track, the choice is yours!
In addition to our new Track scheduling, we are introducing the Collaboration Lab. Three times throughout the day you will participate in teams to complete Minute to Win It style races, physical challenges, art contests and science experiments. Each of these activities will unlock a piece of a puzzle, and the team with the best time at the end of each session gets one step closer to finding a treasure buried on Haverford’s campus. This exciting, interactive competition will allow the students to get creative, discover new skills, challenge themselves and socialize with kids outside of their track groups. It will leave the kids excited for a new set of obstacles each day.
As some of you already know, Haverford’s mascot is the Black Squirrel. As we spent the summer dodging his pranks, we began developing a bond with one another. One so strong that we didn’t want to spend an entire year without each other; so we brought him back to the office and put him to work helping us create this amazing program. If you'd like to see what the black squirrel has been up to since the summer ended, read his blog!
