Never has there been more truth about the saying "Drive for show and putt for dough" than the last week of the FedEx Cup race. Winner Brandt Snedeker of the Coca Cola Championship in GA made the leap to clinch victory and took the 6th FedEx Cup home.
Brandt Snedeker was not only the best putter out there on Sunday, but also led the Strokes Gained by Putting category so far in 2012.
Heading in, Rory McIlroy lead the FedEx Cup point race with back to back victories to surpass Tiger Woods. McIlroy had a tough day in the office with his driver that caused his unusual +4 (74) last round and let go of his tight grasp on the $10 million bonus awaiting the FedEx Cup winner.
How many hours to you spend trying to improve your golf game? 1,5, 10 or even 20 hours a week?
Most common cause of bad scoring is that once you've reached the green a dreaded 3 putt is always lurking. Taking 2 or 3 shots to cover a distance of 300 to 500 yards only to use another 3 shots to cover a distance of 10 to 30 feet does not really help the cause.
Advice: Spend at least 50% of your practice time on or around the green as that will not only help you lower your score but it will make hitting the ball a mile seem like learning the A, B, C's.Drills:
Putt with your eye's closed
Use one hand only
Take 3 balls and try to improve each putt you hit to the same hole ( Get it closer then the one before)
